Literacy for early readers using phonics
Features Fitzroy 1-10
The Fitzroy Readers is a set of graded books which employ the Fitzroy Method - a phonic approach to reading developed over the last 3 decades. The first Reader, A Fat Cat, uses only 13 letters.
This makes it easy for small children to start reading without delay. The first five Readers each teach one basic vowel sound: a, e, i, o and u.
Repeated often, these vowels and many consonants become completely memorable.Within Readers 1-10, special words like I, have, to, go, forβ¦ are introduced β one or two with each Reader.
Children quickly learn to read simple-sounding words wherever they see them.Reader 9 teaches the first digraph, oo as in roof.
Digraphs enable children, without further teaching, to sound out whole families of words β including many they have never seen before.By Reader 10, children are already reading simple sentences with fluency. There are several sounding-out options available.
All speech is high-quality recording.
The interface is designed for young fingers and can be used by the student alone or with a tutor.

What Our Users Say
Don't just take our word for it. Here's what our users have to say about our Android app.
"Great application help our daughter very much."
Daniel Jones
"Great for learning to read"
Kirsty Lindsay
"Fitzroy Readers are an excellent addition to any evidence-based literacy programme. I use these readers as part of my intervention groups for struggling readers in the primary years. These books, however, are equally suitable for any young person learning to read. The books can be easily adapted to your systematic synthetic phonics approach to reading instruction. Highly recommended!"
Dylan Mraz
"This programme is excellent for children who struggle with normal classroom teaching"
Christine Butler

Francesca Tripodi

"My kids use this app in school, and they also enjoy reading them at home. Lots of books and a well-designed app that they can use themselves on a tablet. Highly recommended."
Naomi W
"I am a primary school teacher and reading tutor and these have my full recommendation. Developed by an Australian alternative school, these readers and the accompanying resources are great at helping children learn to read. The app is good because it models reading and teaches the children how to read. I wish they had them in my daughter's school!"
Lindsay Went
"Lovely first readers! I love the simplistic set up. You want things simple for first readers - no confusing distractions. I'm looking forward to the next set of readers. :-)"
